The payment perspective

TopPay analysis

A brand name is only the start. The operating entity, exact website and approved activity need to agree.

For operators, a familiar brand is only one part of the verification process. The exact website, operating entity and approved activity need to agree. A domain change can make an onboarding record outdated even when the commercial relationship continues.

Payment teams could use an official verification service to repeat counterparty checks and investigate differences between a merchant’s current website and its recorded details. The app’s final features remain unconfirmed, so businesses should avoid assuming it will offer an automated interface or certify payment routes.

What to watch

Watch for the actual launch, confirmed features and record update procedures. Those details will determine how useful the app becomes for continuing verification. Until then, the relevant published registers remain the documented reference.
